Tues. Oct. 4, 2016: Test Prep

Today, I gave students information about the test they will write on Tuesday, October 11.

I also reminded them that "Ex Basketball Player" and the devices worksheet are both dead-lined for the end of the day tomorrow (there will not be an alternative as I have already extended the time.)

I am pasting the test prep information below:

Poetry Test Prep: ELAB10

In order to do well on the upcoming exam, you will need to study and apply the steps to reading poetry.
On an exam, I will NOT mark on the “after” activities, so you will NOT need to demonstrate these.
I WILL mark you on title analysis, rhyme scheme, stanzas, lines, punctuation, highlighting, layout anomaly identification, highlighting unknown words (though you will not be able to look them up; it still helps with identification), and highlighting and defining literary (figurative/stylistic/MOSES) devices. If you find ONE example of something, that is enough!!!!
You will not be able to access dictionaries or thesaurus’

You will also need to know the following literary devices from your literary devices sheet (and just general):

Alliteration                  rhythm                         satire                            Personification
Simile                          oxymoron                    double negative           apostrophe
Metaphor                     repetition                     prolepsis                      Onomatopoeia
Hyperbole                   irony                            consonance                  euphemism
Allusion                       sarcasm                        parallel structure          figurative
Rhetorical question     Connotation(- +)

To do well on this exam, you must engage in active reading AND apply active reading and process of elimination skills to the multiple choice questions.

I will mark you as follows:

Sixty Multiple choice questions                                                          60 pts
